Latest Addiction: Socially active

I get up in the morning, and the first thing I look for is my phone! What are the updates on my FB page, any comments on my latest twitter post, watsapp messages? You name it and I have it!
I am living in a virtual world, where talking to people means "Watsapping", "Skyping" or "Facetiming", wishing them on their birthdays and anniversaries are limited to their Facebook wall and posting and bragging about almost everything and anything on Twitter! 'I made coffe', the pic is on Twitter, FB. 'I made sandwiches', another pic gets uploaded! One follows, another follows and likewise the whole world follows each other virtually calling themselves Socially Active!
Just few days back, I went to a party, which was an actual social gathering where people were supposed to talk, eat and drink together. We all met, wished each other goodies, spent five minutes asking about hows who and booked a spot for ourselves where everybody could isolate themselves into their virtual world! "I am at a party" - my message goes. "I am now drinking" - goes my next message. "I am now eating" - there goes another one and so on!
I do not speak for anybody else but myself. I have been bugged by this particular symbol called 'hashtag'! For those who still don't know it which would be a 0.something percent, it is a new font which means to emphasize on something and almost anything! Also, we are now creating trends with this symbol! Fashion trends are faux pas! It's the social media bug that has been trending and spreading like fire!
I am amazed by the power possesed by these social apps! They keep me busy almost the whole day! My days revolve around #hashtags and @handles!!
It is an addiction! Yes, I am friends with most of the people I have met in my whole life, on Facebook! I know how they are, when they got married, who all are having kids, where they are moving to, all through facebook! It's good in a way, saves time to call up and check individually, but I feel sad!
I feel sad because I don't talk generally to the people with whom i had spent some wonderful moments in the past and who were truly good friends. I do not want to restrict them to this virtual world only! #ifonlyiwish
Well, if wishes were horses, I would have ridden them all! Like my best friend says- "Find happiness in small or all things!" I keep these words by my heart and enjoy the social services :) As a matter of fact, I wish to utilize the immense potential which social media has to offer! Shall cover them in consecutive blogs!
